"For All the Rocketeers..."

What an honor to be invited to a Roll Call in Washington DC yesterday with one of the two greatest Fighter Squadrons on the planet - the 336th FS "Rocketeers." The Rockets were in Washington DC to honor former Rocketeer Operations Officer, Brigadier General Robin Risner at his Arlington Cemetery funeral with their presence and with a flawless 4-ship "Missing Man" memorial fly-by.

What does it say about these Airmen, that they would put everything on hold, and travel as group to stand in 23 degree temps to honor this hero?

It says what a legacy of Honor General Risner left all of us:

It speaks volumes about the leadership team at Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina

And it says even more about these Rocketeers now and the way they continue the traditions we hold dear as Airmen.

This Korean-War "MiG ALLEY 200 MILES" sign from General Risner's F-86 era still hangs in the 336th Fighter Squadron.  And on the bottom of that sign, written in pencil are the words, "For All the Rocketeers, Wherever They Be...."

Now that I am one of those, this sign means a lot more to me than it once did.  I'm proud to be one, and grateful for the invitation to be with you for a Rocket Roll Call on the day of Gen Risner's funeral.

World Famous.
