Recently, I had a great conversation with Nicole Hedrick about her perspective on Leadership. She had just led a session for developing senior leaders in our clinical trials organization, where she shared this People-Centered perspective.
Everyone on a team can lead.
I found this inspiring, particularly during our current time of machine-obsessed culture. I'm perpetually fascinated by others' perspectives on leading, and I think this one is particularly insightful because although she spoke through these directly to formal leaders - the concepts are universal.
A key point Nicole emphasizes is the 'You’re Enough' statement. Authentic leadership means we get to be ourselves, and bring our own unique style to the role without feeling as though we need to adopt another's persona. "Each of us is one of a kind. If we don’t play the role
we’ve been placed on Earth to play, the rest of the world loses out." Nicole's person-centered paradigm reminds us how important the individual strengths of every different teammate can be for overall success.
They inspire, because they recognize we all have the capacity to lead, regardless of the seat we hold or the tasks we own. Thanks Nicole.
